Frequently Asked Questions

Don't Worry - You're not the only one

“What can I expect to gain from working with STIR?”

Many clients come to STIR feeling that something essential is missing, even if they’re successful in other areas. Together, we’ll explore the root of those feelings—whether it’s patterns from childhood, unresolved trauma, or outdated beliefs—and help you uncover a deeper sense of fulfillment. You’ll gain tools to understand and break free from repetitive patterns, heal old wounds, and build a way of thinking, feeling, and behaving that aligns with who you are today.

Clients often report a profound sense of clarity and empowerment. One client shared that she learned more in a few sessions at STIR than in years of traditional therapy—especially about her own triggers and how to overcome limiting patterns. By the end of our work together, clients often report feeling clearer, more grounded, and more empowered to lead their lives authentically, whether in their personal relationships or professional roles.

“What is Transactional Analysis and Re-Decision work?”

Transactional Analysis (TA) is a framework created by Dr. Eric Berne to help people understand human behavior and relationships. TA looks at how patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving shape our relationships, choices, and the way we use or give up power. By exploring these patterns, TA helps people notice when they’re unconsciously giving up power or using it in ways that may reinforce unhelpful cycles. TA is used widely in therapy, personal growth, and organizational settings to improve communication, build stronger relationships, and create more balanced, empowered interactions.

Re-decision work in TA helps people recognize and change early life decisions that no longer serve them. Often, these decisions were made unconsciously in response to powerful experiences in childhood, shaping behaviors, feelings, and beliefs in ways that may limit freedom. Through re-decision techniques, people learn to recognize these old choices, understand their impact, and consciously make new, more empowering choices about how to think and behave. Redecision work often leads to a stronger sense of personal power, helping people break old patterns and create more fulfilling relationships and achieve meaningful goals.

“How is your background as a Professional Dom relevant to this work?”

My training as a Professional Dom provided a unique perspective on power, vulnerability, boundaries, and trust that informs my approach to personal growth. In this work, understanding power dynamics is essential—not just in the traditional sense, but in terms of how we navigate authority, followership, and the balance between security and openness.

Through my background, I’ve developed a nuanced understanding of leadership and followership: knowing when to take the lead, when to let go, and how to find empowerment in both roles. This translates into helping clients explore the complex interplay between being strong and being vulnerable, between asserting oneself and allowing oneself to be seen and supported. For many, it’s a pathway to building authentic, balanced relationships—whether with a partner, in professional settings, or within themselves.

This knowledge informs the way I support clients in discovering their own sense of authority, confidence, and security in relationships of all kinds.

“Do I need to engage with kink practices to work with STIR?”

No. Your journey at STIR will be guided by your goals and boundaries. While my background as a Professional Dom in Conscious Kink gives me a deep understanding of power dynamics, leadership, followership, and the nuanced balance between vulnerability and security, engaging in kink practices is not required for personal growth here.

In our work, we may explore themes like when to take the lead versus when to step back, or how to embrace vulnerability while feeling secure. This balance between leading and allowing oneself to be supported can foster a strong, empowered approach to both personal and professional relationships.  My role is to create an environment where you feel comfortable exploring these dynamics, at your own pace, to find your unique balance between authority and receptivity.

“How quickly can I expect results?”

Every client’s journey is unique, but many begin to feel more aware and grounded after just a few sessions. Real transformation takes commitment, and I typically recommend a minimum of three month, with six months being ideal. Some clients choose to work together even longer, diving deeper and continuing to build resilience, confidence, and clarity. With consistent commitment, you’ll move from feeling controlled by old habits to making empowered choices that align with your values and goals.

“What if I’m worried about confidentiality?”

Confidentiality is central to everything we do at STIR. I hold a deep respect for the ethics of privacy and confidentiality in personal growth work. Everything discussed in our sessions is kept private, unless you pose a serious threat to yourself or others. This assurance allows clients to explore their thoughts and feelings in a safe, supportive environment.

“I don’t feel comfortable talking about my desires; will that be a problem?”

It’s completely natural to feel hesitant about discussing personal desires or goals, especially if you’ve felt judged or misunderstood in the past. Some clients open up quickly, while others initially feel guilt or shame around wanting something for themselves. At STIR, we create a respectful, non-judgmental space where you’re encouraged to explore what you truly want, whether that’s in relationships, personal growth, or professional life.

Through gentle encouragement and empathetic listening, I’ll support you in breaking through any hesitations and discovering what feels authentic to you. In time, you will find it easier to open up, articulate your desires, and explore them without guilt or shame.

“What will a typical session look like?”

Each session is designed to meet you where you are. We’ll engage in meaningful conversation, exploring your thoughts, emotions, and any patterns you’d like to shift. We may incorporate techniques from re-decisional work, integrative family systems, or somatic (body-centered) practices to bring awareness to how emotions manifest physically and release stored tension. Every session builds on the previous one, fostering steady and meaningful change.

Between sessions, some clients may engage in reflective journaling or small exercises to deepen their insights and support the work we do together.

“Will there be work to do outside of our sessions?”

Yes, at times. Personal growth often requires reflection beyond our time together. Prior to our first session, I’ll send a questionnaire to help you reflect on your goals and experiences and set the stage for our work. As we move forward, you may be encouraged to journal, reflect on certain topics, or try small exercises between sessions to deepen your understanding and enhance the insights we uncover. Any assignments are designed to fit into your life without adding pressure, and they’re always tailored to support your goals.

“Is this work suitable for individuals and couples?”

Yes. I work with both individuals and couples, adapting the process to meet each client’s needs. For individuals, the focus may be on self-discovery, personal empowerment, and breaking free from limiting patterns. For couples, we explore relationship dynamics, communication, and creating a more balanced, connected partnership. Whether you’re looking to grow individually or strengthen your bond with a partner, STIR offers tailored approaches to support your journey.

“How can I prepare for my first session?”

To prepare for your first session, take a moment to reflect on your goals, concerns, and what you hope to gain. Prior to our first session, I’ll send you a questionnaire to fill out, which will help us clarify your intentions and areas of focus. You may also find it helpful to jot down any thoughts or questions you’d like to discuss. For the session itself, it’s best to find a comfortable, private space free from distractions, where you feel open to exploring your thoughts and feelings.

“Do you train people in kink and BDSM?”

Yes, training sessions are available for those specifically interested in conscious kink or BDSM dynamics. Whether you’re a sub or Dom, partnered, single, or exploring, I can help guide you in areas such as consent, communication, embodiment, and the healthy exploration of power dynamics .This is a distinct service offered separately from my personal growth work and is available only to clients who specifically seek this type of support.
